Are you a motivated self-starter who enjoys helping local business grow?

Community Futures is looking for one or more Business Ambassador(s) to assist business owners to access resources that can help them to grow their business.

The position requires demonstrated skills in building relationships with local business people, as well as the writing and computer skills needed to assist with researching and completing funding applications.

The position can be structured as part-time employment or contract work, and might appeal to an experienced entrepreneur or professional who has time to support other business owners.




Business Ambassadors provide the personal link between local business owners and the Wildfire Business Transition program.

The Wildfire Business Transition Program is a coordinated effort of the Community Futures offices based in Williams Lake, Quesnel, Ashcroft and Kamloops.  The Wildfire Business Transition program provides personal hands-on support to businesses and not-for-profits affected by the 2017 wildfires including:

·         Up to $10,000 in non-repayable funding to support self-directed business training and/or coaching support

·         Free business workshops

·         Referrals to other relevant business support programs

Business Ambassadors support businesses and not‐for‐profits by providing one‐on‐one support to ensure that owners and managers are able to effectively access programs and services that will assist with their ongoing growth and sustainability.

The responsibilities for this position include the following:

·         Market the program and Initiate contact with businesses

·         Identify business support needs and supply owners with information on relevant supports

·         Where required, assist in completing on‐line or manual form applications

·         Promote the Self-Directed Training program and CF Regional Workshops

·         Collect and maintain information on clients

·         Look after logistics and host business workshops


The Business Ambassador position is a diverse multi-faceted position that requires a wide range of skills.  Accordingly, Community Futures does not expect that applicants will necessarily possess all of the qualifications and experience that define our “ideal applicant”.

The ideal applicant will demonstrate certification and/or experience in the following areas:

·         Post‐secondary education in a business-related discipline

·         Successfully owned and/or managed a business

·         Counseling / coaching experience

Required personal skills include: 

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word

·         Strong inter‐personal and communication skills

·         Strong writing skills

·         Positive and opportunity‐focused

·         Results‐oriented self‐starter

The applicant is required to provide their own transportation for travel throughout the North Cariboo region – costs reimbursed at Government of Canada rates. 


This is a temporary position currently contracted to November 30, 2019.  Depending on available applicants, this position may be hired as 2 or more part‐time individuals.

Work hours will vary to respond to the needs of clients, and are expected to include evening and weekend work.

The position may be structured as employment or contract work with wages commensurate with experience.
